Guitar Orchestra at Monday’s Instrumental Evening

Lunchtime Recital – Thursday 9th November

We were, again, treated to a variety of music of a high calibre at this Lunchtime Recital; with the music of Beethoven, Hummel, Paganini, Gary Ryan, and Franz Doppler, being played on the piano, trumpet, guitar, and flute. Well done to all those who performed.

Symphony Orchestra woodwind rehearsal

On Friday, our Symphony Orchestra’s woodwind section were rehearsing for this year’s orchestral work The Rite Of Spring by Igor Stravinsky.

Shells’ Music Demonstration – Friday 29th September

For Friday afternoon activities on the 29th September, the Shells were treated to demonstrations from our instrumental teachers of their instruments. These included the French horn, bassoon, clarinet, flute, oboe, and orchestral percussion. The photo below shows Mrs Butler and a few volunteers using a hose pipe and a funnel to imitate the sound of a French horn!

Miss Margaret Davis Recital

Well done to the performers of this year’s Miss Margaret Davis Recital, who put on superb performances of Schubert, Beethoven, and Saint-Saëns. Our next Lunchtime Recital will be on Thursday 12 October.

Last night’s Shells’ and Thirds’ Recital

Well done to all our Shells and Thirds who performed in the Ruddock Hall; their first of what will be many more future concerts! A variety of instruments were played including the violin, bassoon, and the harp.
