Yesterday was the first Lunchtime Recital of 2023, and we were treated to fantastic performances on harp, guitar, and piano. Well done to those who took part, and thank you to Mr Ash for the photos.
Our next Lunchtime Recital happens next Thursday 9th February at 13:10, which will feature repertoire by Schubert, Chopin, Barrios, and Ireland. A reminder that all our Lunchtime Recitals are free to attend, with no tickets required!

The end of last term saw the first Carol Service since the pandemic. We were thrilled to be able to return to Birmingham Cathedral where KES Choir sung traditional Christmas carols and songs including Betelehemu, a traditional Nigerian song, and John Rutter’s arrangement of Sans Day Carol. It was a beautiful atmosphere enjoyed by a large congregation. Well done to everyone in KES Choir, the brass ensemble, the percussion ensemble, and the readers. Thank you to Canon Andy and everyone at Birmingham Cathedral for making us welcome.

On Sunday 11th and Monday 12th December last term, pupils from KES and KEHS performed three marvellous concerts in the Ruddock Hall Performing Arts Centre. 11 music ensembles from across both schools performed repertoire spanning from Beethoven’s Symphony no.8 and Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, to jazzy Christmas numbers such as Jingle Bell Rock! Well done to all who performed.

As part of our Friday afternoon activities, some of our students visit local primary schools to perform and showcase their instruments to the children. We name the activity ‘Concert Party’. Here are some photos from our visit to St Laurence Church Junior School last Friday 25th November. Thank you to Mr Ash for the photos, and for the KES/KEHS Partnerships team for organising the Concert Party visits!
