Planets: the winner

This is Planets, the winner of this year’s King Edward’s School Clef Club Composition Competition.

It’s composed by Max Walsh, of the Fourths, who responded to Rahul Sharma and Ke Chen Yu’s challenge to look ‘into the unknown …’

Scherzo for oboe, two bassoons and contra-bassoon by Christopher Churcher

 

On Friday, 12 November, the first performance was given of Fourth Christopher Churcher’s Scherzo for oboe, two bassoons and contra-bassoon. The performers were Margaret Cookhorn, principal contra-bassoonist of the CBSO, Yash Suribhatla, Ben Woodward, and Christopher himself.

Duet in F sharp for two bassoons by Christopher Churcher

 

On Friday, 3 November, the first performance was given of Upper Middle Christopher Churcher’s Duet in F sharp for two bassoons. The performers were Margaret Cookhorn, principal contra-bassoonist of the CBSO and Christopher himself.
